# Sustain Together - November Summary (+ final call of 2022 TODAY)

Every other Friday, we host a call to document, share, and respond to current events in open source sustainability. Here’s a summary of our November calls:

## November 4th, 2022

[GraphicsMagick News](http://www.graphicsmagick.org/NEWS.html#id1) led to a lot of in depth conversation about how many open source projects are maintained by one person, and how mitigating maintainer burnout can take numerous forms. One thing we could do: Make a list of things to do to support solo maintainers running out of steam on their projects.

We also discussed a couple projects helping pay maintainers. [teaxyz/cli went live](https://github.com/teaxyz/cli). tea helps with the problem of maintainers not being compensated (also discussed [on the podcast](https://podcast.sustainoss.org/117)). [thanks.dev](https://thanks.dev) analyzes dependencies and uses paypal to distribute payouts to said dependencies (also [on the podcast](https://podcast.sustainoss.org/148) as of writing this).

## November 18th, 2022

Casual conversation, final discussion hinges on the validity of community calls, and how the importance of community gathering spaces is the fact that they keep happening. So long as they do, the community can deliberate and discuss the topics at hand.
