ML based methodology for evaluating a project's health

Hi,

I’m currently studying the different existing methods to evaluate a FOSS project’s health. I stumbled across the paper “Is this GitHub Project Maintained? Measuring the Level of Maintenance Activity of Open-Source Projects” (https://homepages.dcc.ufmg.br/~mtov/pub/2020-ist-jailton.pdf ) which evaluates the relevance to apply a Machine Learning based approach. Their conclusion seems rather positive, but I couldn’t really find a way to verify their findings. There is a Chrome extension by the same authors that implements part of this methodology (GitHub - lucianomilen/isMaintained-extension: Browser extension to display a given GitHub repository's maintenence status) but it is itself unmaintained. As anyone experimented around this or other ML based approach to evaluate the maintenance state of a project? Thanks! Camille
