Promoting The Podcast

Up until this month, the podcast has been doing pretty good in terms of downloads/listeners.

While there are ~10 more days left in June I already know we won’t be anywhere near May. Now let me be clear, our goal is not to have a million listeners. Our goal is to reach as many people interested in sustaining open source. Maybe 400-1,400 downloads are good. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Currently, we have 4 ways of promoting the podcast:

  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Newsletter
  • This forum

My question to you is, what else can we do to promote the podcast? I’m currently running a poll on Twitter and so far 70% of those following @sustainoss don’t know we are 41 episodes in.

Out of curiosity, do you have any hypotheses on why June had a downturn in listening metrics?

I have a ticket open with the service we use. The 3 out of 4 shows that use the Fireside platform were all down this month. The 1 show that doesn’t use that platform was normal (growing). I’ll keep you posted.
